Job Description

BusPlanner is at a critical juncture, experiencing rapid growth and relying on precise, timely execution to meet customer demands. This role is designed to be the operational backbone for our development team, ensuring that all projects are delivered efficiently and predictably.

Reporting directly to the CTO, the Development Manager will serve as the primary driver of execution, translating product vision into tangible, shipped software. This is a high-trust position focused on process and flow, not people management, ensuring that every sprint is well-defined, blockers are resolved swiftly, and releases are consistently on schedule.

If you thrive on transforming complex backlogs into streamlined, predictable sprints and are committed to on-time delivery with exceptional quality, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact.

Key responsibilities include owning the sprint cadence from planning to retrospectives, meticulously breaking down stories into manageable tasks, and leading daily scrums to aggressively resolve any impediments. You will also be responsible for the integrity of the release schedule, ensuring all software is thoroughly tested and documented before deployment, and making critical decisions about scope adjustments to maintain delivery timelines.

Furthermore, you will maintain and optimize our development tooling, particularly Jira and Confluence, ensuring they provide clear, real-time visibility into project progress for the entire company. This role requires close collaboration with Product, QA, Design, and DevOps to ensure seamless handoffs and proactive identification of dependencies.

Success in the first 90 days will be measured by the consistent breakdown of stories into 1-2 day tasks, the crisp and effective resolution of blockers, predictable sprint completion rates, and on-time releases with full QA sign-off. You will also be expected to establish Jira and Confluence as the definitive source of truth for development work and act as a trusted operational partner to the CTO.

This is not a people management role; your focus will be on the execution of work, not individual careers. You will not be involved in performance reviews, hiring, or career development. Similarly, this is not a product or individual contributor coding role; your expertise lies in orchestrating the development process.
